The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) summarizes the City's financial activity for the previous fiscal year, which begins on July 1st and ends on June 30th. The CAFR has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States. The award is presented to government units whose comprehensive annual financial reports achieve the highest standards in government accounting and financial reporting.

The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report includes the financial activities of the San Fernando Redevelopment Agency (RDA). The primary purpose of the RDA is to eliminate blighted areas by encouraging development of residential, commercial, industrial, recreational and public facilities.
