All ages and skill levels are welcome at this FREE interactive series and each JAM will be paired with a fun City of San Fernando event.

No rhythm? No problem. Susan Michaels and K. Boogie will have you do-si-doing in no time to traditional American square dance music. Bring your dancing shoes! Or if dancing’s not your thing, show up with your guitar, banjo or fiddle and play along with the band!

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. JAM Sessions are participatory and centered around movement and music. All JAMs are FREE, and all ages and skill levels are welcome.

Pick up some moves with San Fernando’s The GR818ERS! This popular crew will help you earn some street cred by showing you how to pop and lock with the best of them. Once you get the hang of it, be ready to “freestyle in the cypher,” in the true hip-hop nature of community and improvisation.

Celebrate the rhythms of West Africa! At this energetic JAM led by YekoLadzekpo-Cole, you’ll explore the drumming, dancing and singing traditions of the Ewe and Dagomba people of Ghana.

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. JAM Sessions are participatory and centered around movement and music. All JAMs are FREE, and all ages and skill levels are welcome.

5:00 pm Mexican Folk Dance JAM Session | 6:30 pm Free Concert

Delight in the vibrant music and dance of Veracruz! Step up on the tarima (wooden dance platform) with San Fernando’s own Ballet Folklorico Ollin who will walk you through this rhythmic dance style. The JAM will end with a fandango celebrating the entire community.

Dancer Andrea Rodriguez will show you the dance moves that originated in Colombia’s Caribbean coastal region and Panama, while a top secret band plays an irresistible combo of Latin jazz and cumbia music that will inspire you to dance the night away!

2:00 pm Japanese Folk Dance JAM Session

Discover the beauty and grace of Japanese festival dancing with San Fernando local Christine Inouye. Seize the moment and try your hand at these celebratory bon dances set to ondo music by Japanese folk fusion ensemble Minyo Station.

9:00 am Bollywood Dance JAM Session

Combine jazz and hip-hop with modern and traditional Indian dance and you get the energetic sounds and movements of Bollywood. Twirl, twist and step with Achinta S. McDaniel and dancers from Blue13 Dance Company who make it easy to pick up the moves of this popular dance.

2:00 pm Aztec Dance JAM Session

Experience the splendor of the Aztec people with San Fernando’s Danza Mexica Cuauhtemoc. Create rhythms and beats with fellow drummers and explore the music, choreography and poetry of this ancient Mesoamerican culture.
