Grab a blanket or your favorite lawn chair and join us at our Sizzlin’ Summer Nights annual concerts and movies in the park series at San Fernando Recreation Park. Each night will kick-off with a JAM Session, followed by our featured concerts and movies. JAM Sessions invite you to dance to the beat, play a new instrument, and experience something unexpected! All ages and skill levels are welcome at this FREE interactive series.

The Healthy San Fernando! Campaign is a collaborative effort by the City of San Fernando to increase public awareness of obesity-related diseases while educating the community on the prevention of such diseases through healthy eating and active living. The City has taken the pledge to healthy eating and active living with the ultimate goal of becoming the healthiest City in the San Fernando Valley. Sizzlin’ Summer Nights are part of the City-wide annual campaign that includes City-sponsored events featuring innovative activities involving nutritional components or physical activities.

Pick up some moves with San Fernando’s The GR818ERS! This popular crew will help you earn some street cred by showing you how to pop and lock with the best of them. Once you get the hang of it, be ready to “freestyle in the cypher,” in the true hip-hop nature of community and improvisation.

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. JAM Sessions are participatory and centered around movement and music. All JAMs are FREE, and all ages and skill levels are welcome.

6:30 pm African Dance JAM Session | 6:30 pm Movie Night

Celebrate the rhythms of West Africa! At this energetic JAM led by YekoLadzekpo-Cole, you’ll explore the drumming, dancing and singing traditions of the Ewe and Dagomba people of Ghana.

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. JAM Sessions are participatory and centered around movement and music. All JAMs are FREE, and all ages and skill levels are welcome.

5:00 pm Mexican Folk Dance JAM Session | 6:30 pm Mariachi Tesoro de San Fernando Concert

An enchanted evening under the stars with Mariachi Tesoro de San Fernando showcasing the talents of the finest student musicians from the award winning and nationally recognized, City of San Fernando Mariachi Master Apprentice Program (MMAP).

Delight in the vibrant music and dance of Veracruz! Step up on the tarima (wooden dance platform) with San Fernando’s own Ballet Folklorico Ollin who will walk you through this rhythmic dance style. The JAM will end with a fandango celebrating the entire community.

5:00 pm Tropicál Dance JAM Session | 6:30 pm City of San Fernando Birthday Concert

Dancer Andrea Rodriguez will show you the dance moves that originated in Colombia’s Caribbean coastal region and Panama, while a top secret band plays an irresistible combo of Latin jazz and cumbia music that will inspire you to dance the night away!
