AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS

To help raise public awareness, the City Council recognizes particular topics, days, weeks, and months throughout the year. 
Proclamation: National Hispanic Heritage Month - September 15, 2024 – October 15, 2024 The City of San Fernando officially recognizes National Hispanic Heritage Month to honor the histories, cultural traditions, and significant contributions of Hispanic American communities. This proclamation emphasizes the valuable contributions made by Hispanic residents to all aspects of American life, including public service, business, arts, education, and civil rights. The proclamation outlines the historical roots of Hispanic Heritage Month, which begins on September 15th, the anniversary of the independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. It also notes the independence celebrations of Mexico and Chile during this month. It acknowledges the importance of recognizing the contributions of Hispanic and Latin American individuals to the United States and emphasizes the importance of fostering a welcoming environment for all, regardless of race, ethnicity, or origin. The proclamation concludes with the San Fernando City Council officially proclaiming "National Hispanic Heritage Month" in the City of San Fernando, encouraging the community to learn about and celebrate the contributions of Hispanic and Latin American individuals who have enriched the nation and society.
